Employer Requirements
Before allowing an individual to work as a Medication Aide in an Adult Care Facility, the following requirements must be met:
- Verify the individual does not have a substantiated finding listed on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
- Complete the Medication Aide Employment Verification Form.
- If the individual does not have previous employment history as a Medication Aide in an Adult Care Facility, they must complete the required training from the Adult Care Licensure Section.
- Review the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry for Adult Care Facilities to confirm the individual has successfully passed the Medication Aide examination.
- Ensure a Registered Nurse completes a clinical skills validation before the individual performs medication administration tasks in the facility.
- Maintain documentation of all registry verifications in your business records, including the date accessed and any confirmation numbers provided.
